Livejournal recently said in this post that some people are hacking into accounts using deactivated Hotmail accounts listed in people's bios. I'm fully aware of Hotmail's email recycling policy(if you don't use your addy for a year, it's up for grabs), and have already lost an address to it, although I intentionally abandoned it.
LiveJournal now offers a tool to deauthorize old email addresses, located HERE. I recommend you go there just to make sure you don't have any abandoned addresses on there. I have plenty of abandoned email addresses over the years, and one of them was on 2 of my LJ accounts. Sure, it was Yahoo, but they may enforce a similar recycling program too, if they haven't already. Even if they don't, that address has been hacked before(they ninja'd a signature change), so it's a liability either way. Give hackers less doors.

I hardly post to LiveJournal anymore, so I'm a day late posting this.
Yesterday, I had a cameo in the very well-drawn “The Sergeant and Professor Skeary Winslow” by G.L. Nelson. On the second page, in the crowd scene of the 1st and 5th panels, I’m the furry lightly-purplish guy with the beard and receding hairline in the green robe. Looks just like me! (I sent him pics of me when I had the beard)
Click here to see my cameo in this chapter!

I'd post a shot here, but I feel it would drive more people to the site if I forced you to click the link to see it. So far, it's working! I've driven 13 hits to the site already(not including my test-clicks), according to his Project Wonderful stats. I didn't even know I could convince 13 people to click a link!

Today, my cheap-o no frills phone accidentally went through the wash. Gah. But wait, I've received $50 in Christmas/Birthday cash! That's not including gift cards. I went as all-out as Net10 would allow me.
Once again, I have a camera phone. I miss my old camera phone from years ago, BUT his new one has BLUETOOTH! It just so happens that my mom's computer has Bluetooth, too. Easy-peasy transfer after I turned options on. Much easier than the upload process of my old camera phone.
I did plenty of research today on my cell phone options. Prepaid still was the way to go for me. Net10 and Virgin Mobile were the only prepaid options worth considering. Seriously, those other companies' plans sucked.

Basically, Virgin Mobile's strengths were night & weekend minutes, excellent customer service and a phone with a full keyboard($90wtf). Net10's strengths were cheap minutes. With my old Net10 phone, if I spend over $15 on minutes that would fall in n&w time, it would be worth switching to Virgin Mobile. I've spent that much on late minutes. But not often enough. Besides, using Skype can alleviate some of that if I don't just HAVE to use a cell phone. As for a full keyboard phone, I don't make any money from text messaging, so it's not worth spending $90 on the phone.

Net10 was the winner.

I'm on the tail end of moving 7 GB of data from the PowWeb server to the GoDaddy server. The important sites are moved over(just the files), now I'm sorting out things like the Vun Duns stuff. I'm considering just putting a redirect to the Dreadstar MySpace, but I know we don't want to associate the two bands with each other. I'd create a VunDuns MySpace, but that's too much work. I'll be going through the folders to see what needs to be deleted, and reorganize the file structure. It's a huge mess, with some unused folders, and some empty folders. I plan on keeping our LJ storage folders at the same address on vunduns.com, they're the main reason to keep the domain name, currently.

If John or Dustin says to just purge the site, I'd be glad to leave those folders out of the transfer. The domain and certain non-Vun things will remain, but the home page will be a short message like, "The Vun Duns have evolved beyond this plane of existence."

Garrett [userpic]

Today I've officially started the move over to GoDaddy's web server. PowWeb is set to charge me $93 on the 31st, and I need that lower. I was going to go for GoDaddy's economy package, because I only have 7GB to move, and that plan gives 10 GB. $50. However, I looked over the details very closely, and everything looked spectactular.... except the lack of "Unlimited websites". Sure, I can still host multiple websites on it, but they'd all be under the same domain. This means I'd have some broken links and only one homepage for everything.
So, I'd have to opt for the $78 plan(150 GB space). Wait, I only deposited enough for the economy package. However, I noticed a link to save 15%, so I clicked that. Don't know why that deal became available when I already had it in my shopping cart, but that brought it down to almost what I had in my checking account. Then I used a coupon code("muggle") provided by a Harry Potter podcast I listen to, and that brought it down to $60.34! DEAL!!!
I considered the plan when it was $78, but at $93, PowWeb JUST A FEW DAYS AGO added automatic pc backup(2 GB space for that). That service is through Carbonite, whom provides VERY easy online backup. Add to that the trouble of moving 7 GB worth of a few websites, and I was happy to stay with PowWeb. But at $60, GoDaddy wins. I'll likely order Carbonite's unlimited space package for $50 soon, or see what I can wrangle up for less.

The thin metal case is good for a drawing surface, too! Each card I give out will have a personal sketch on it.

That $93 hosting fee is coming up again... and I'm seriously considering GoDaddy.com. I'm actually only using 7GB of space, so their economy package looks good. I've considered using my unlimited disk space for backing up my computer, but internet backup is so slow that I haven't bothered with it. So, the 10GB plan, being about half this price, looks good.
Besides, I already use GoDaddy for my domain names.

Yesterday(Saturday) I went to a tattoo parlor... and delivered a chicken dinner. That's the only way you'll get me into a tattoo parlor; to pay me. Unfortunately he wasn't a good tipper.

Also, I've found that when I tell people "KennyChronicles.com", they're not always sure what the first word was, so I have to say, "As in 'Oh my God they killed Kenny', but not that Kenny". I decided to search for other Kennys I could use as examples so people don't think it's about Kenny McCormick(although the name IS inspired by South Park, and some humor is similar). So, it's Kenny as in, "Kenny from South Park, Kenny G, Kenny Chesney, Kenny Rogers, Kenny Lofton the basketball player, and Kenny, Minneapolis." Okay, I guess Kenny from South Park is my only option.

Garrett [userpic]

My goal is to have Kenny Chronicles on a Monday-Wednesday-Friday schedule by April 2009. Why? Because April Fool's Day is on a Wednesday.

Garrett [userpic]

For Toonfest in September, I'll be bringing these nifty business cards to advertise the Kenny Chronicles with. I got them cheap from VistaPrint, so I could only choose a pre-made background. I like this one. That big bit of white space will be for sketching in. It's small, but I tested the size, and it's plenty to play with. That area is supposed to have an address, phone number, etc., but I don't normally need to hand out that info. Especially at Toonfest.
I felt the need to print up some cards when someone I knew in high school asked what I'm up to lately. This was at work, so I just said, "This". I could have mentioned the website, but what are the chances he'd remember the address? Even the simplest url will be forgotten when told verbally. Also, I avoid conversations, especially at work. This card would tell him everything he needs to know. The white space also allows for extra info.

I'm now thinking a little note saying, "Contains foul language, blood, and innuendo" might be needed, but.... SHREK. There are KIDS MOVIES rated PG for these same reasons. I don't think I'll really need any warnings on the card. Also, the comic is currently lacking in blood, for the moment. In fact, with that warning, people will take it as a promise, and be disappointed in how tame the language is.
And a brief description of the comic... maybe. But, I think I'll be giving these mostly to people already familiar with either myself or my art in the Toonfest gallery. Also, I'll be sketching on them. From the sketch, they'll know it features a young anthropomorphic fox, and if I include a work uniform, they'll expect retail humor. A picture is worth at least as many words as that last sentence.

I might make a shirt to advertise my comic, but I'd have to design it quickly, and it would have to be usable after Toonfest, because custom shirts are expensive. I'll probably just put an ad on my sketchbook like last year. That's probably best.

Okay, Twitter is now my main blogging platform. Been using it nearly daily for a month and a half now. Twitter creates a sense of urgency somehow. They even have the option to nudge you if you haven't posted in the past 24 hours. That's okay, because you can only post tiny messages. It helps provide my site with SOME kind of daily update.
Monday, I tweeted about finally beating Starfox Adventures on GameCube. Yes, I don't get to my video games very often. Today, I posted about today's comic, and the fact that the key word wasn't in my Spanish dictionary for the translation. I've been using the Polo Sur(South Pole) comic as my extra Spanish dictionary, and sure enough I found my word there. In fact, I found a cultural reference for a future translation in the comments!

So, if anybody feels like trying out Twitter, my microblog is at http://twitter.com/will_yums.

Hey, I just downloaded Skype! I figure I'll likely just use it for podcast-related calling, and I'll definitely have it open nearly 0% of the time, but my username is "isquish".
Also, it's on my mom's computer.

Garrett [userpic]

Normally, mom feeds the cats in the morning. She's not here today, so I was afraid I'd have a mutiny on my feet when I went outside at 3pm. Only one cat acknowledged me, and he didn't seem hungry. They apparently have learned that they only get fed in the morning. I had cat food in hand, though, so I gave them a little of it.
They're strays, and they do get food from other places, or at least I don't see how they could live with how little we feed them.

We got two digital converter boxes tonight(our $40-off certificates from the government expire on Tuesday), and are now connected to PBS's 3 digital stations. We're excited about the Create channel. It's like Food Network and HGTV rolled into one. We also (surprisingly) really enjoyed Jubilee! When I was flipping through our 3 digital channels, we came across a bluegrass song that kept mentioning computer terms. Bluegrass?!... talking about COMPUTERS?!!?!# The song is called <i>Runnin' Out Of Memory For You</i>. I couldn't find the lyrics through Google or Yahoo, but I did find them through the PBS website. <a href="http://www.timobrien.net/Lyrics2.cfm?ID=156" target="_blank">Read these lyrics</a>, to the tune of a BLUEGRASS song. OR, <a href="http://play.rhapsody.com/timobrien/cornbreadnation/runninoutofmemory?didAutoplayBounce=true" target="_blank">listen to it HERE</a>!
Just hearing "jpeg" in the middle of a bluegrass song is weird :)

...but, today's payday and I spent the last of my paper money on gas yesterday in anticipation of getting paid today!!! GAH!
I'm sure I have enough gas for today, as long as I combine my trips. Hopefully I can get out early enough to cash my checks in the morning. I wish my 2 workplaces offered direct deposit. Steve & Barry's even got the checks in yesterday without me knowing. It's irritating to be holding checks that promise a decent amount of money, and not being able to get to it until the next day... or the next Monday if I didn't wake up early enough. I work 10-10 Saturday(2 jobs).

Dog Barker reminds you to spay or neuter your vets
I've submitted this t-shirt design to Ziraxia.com, but it needs YOUR VOTE to actually be printed. As soon as it gets enough good votes to be printed, I will be announcing it here. I COULD use Cafepress to sell it immediately, but if I can have it professionally screen printed then the quality(and VALUE) will be tons better.
Feel free to browse around Ziraxia.com in the meantime, this is an affiliate link :-p

I just finished drawing 21 comic strips in 12 hours, and my hand doesn't even hurt!

A daily strip would normally be a 2-3 hour job. Today I ran the cartoonist marathon. My goal was to draw 24 comics in 12 hours. 30 minutes average per comic AND THAT INCLUDES MEAL TIMES! This is inspired by the 24-hour comics that are becoming popular. With those, you have to draw 24 comic book pages in 24 hours(including meal times & naps). Daunting feat, but a lot of people succeed and do it yearly. A daily comic is half a page. I examined the idea and declared today, June 16th, to be my 12-hour comic day.
I didn't quite get all 24 comics done(I needed 23 for a full month of weekdays), but those can get done quickly. My main goal was to have daily comics for July, the challenge was just extra motivation. Now, admittedly, a few look like crap. Mostly the first ones. I plan on fixing/redoing those. I want the comics to look decent. When you incorporate new characters(everybody except Kenny is "new"), that slows things down and the characters end up looking lousy. I mostly had new characters in the first comics. Another slow-down was going to the park to draw. Blegh, couldn't see the screen because of the sun.
Another reason for this marathon was exercise. Mental speed and artistic speed need increased. My pace for EVERYTHING is slow. This will surely bring my general pace up. I feel like I could go a few more hours! My hand doesn't even hurt! Drawing on a Wacom tablet is MUCH less stressful on the hand than a quill!

THE DOGGONE DAILIES OF SUMMER: Coming to KennyChronicles.com throughout the month of July. Check it out.

Okay, I got Sunday EVENING off, but I still have to work 11-4. Thankfully, the person taking my place can handle that, as long as I set things up(I'll be available for setup). The concert will likely require more expertise, so I'm glad I'll be available.
HOWEVER, I ALSO ASKED FOR FRIDAY THE 13th OFF!!! I had huge plans that day. I'm not giving many details, because I want to be the first to do this, but it involves cartooning. However, they scheduled me that evening. Not only does that prevent me from doing my time-consuming project, it also overlaps with a cartoonist chat thing I really wanted to join in on. It'll be a bi-weekly cartoonist hangout, but this will be the first one(not including the test show last week), AND on Friday the 13th!
Next Friday the 13th is in February. I fully intend on following through with this crazy idea then.
